Double Date Valentines Tablescape
There are so many ways to celebrate this romantic holiday – maybe with a lovely Valentines tablescape for a Double Date Dinner! It’s so fun to share special events with special friends, and this DDD table will help you do it with style!
Our Valentines tablescape is light and bright, and set off by romantic pink carnations and red roses. Perfect for you and your friends. (Or just you if you want!)
Layered Tablecloths
I own mostly solid color tablecloths, so in order to get some interest I often layer them. In this case, I used a taupe lace cloth as the base and added a folded blush jacquard one as a large runner.
I thought it was a pretty good mix of country romance and smooth sophistication. And all so neutral that the deep flowers really stood out.
Relaxed Valentines Tablescape Garland
Our centerpiece garland is really just flowers laid on the table. So easy and so pretty. And these flower varieties will last for several hours without water, so you can get a really natural look.
I bought three kinds of flowers – soft pink baby carnations, deep red spray roses, and some greenery with lovely little purpley blossoms. (They didn’t list the name of the purpley one on the package, so if you know, let me know!)
I started by laying the greenery from the middle, out to each side. Then I put a bunch of red roses in the middle and worked out with the rest of the roses and the carnations.
It ended up looking very relaxed and organic. Sprinkle some rose petals around, and you’ve got the perfect romantic centerpiece.
The Place Setting
I often mix up china patterns on my tables, but this time I thought it would be so pretty to have just one.
And what a pattern! This Noritake Shenandoah china is the epitome of romance in my book.
I love the delicate pink and cream flowers – a perfect pattern for a Valentines Tablescape. And it complimented the rest of the palette – just enough detail to give it some closeup interest and still read neutral overall.
Putting a single flower on the plates bumped up the color and softness quotient just a bit.
And the napkins between the plates added a tiny bit of texture variation. All very subtle and beautiful.
Valentines Tablescape Glasses & Silver
These are all vintage glasses that I got from a lovely little consignment store. However, I put links to some that are very similar in the shopping section below.
I so love crystal on a table. It really elevates even a basic tablescape to something special!
And for the silver, my mother started collecting this Rose Point for me when I was 15. We’ve both added to the set over the years, and I just love it!
It worked perfectly for our Valentines tablescape, since the chargers and candles were silver too.

A beautiful table, Barbara, that strikes all the right notes! The silver, the china, the linens, the crystal, the candles all create elegance and a mood of romance. One of the best things about Valentine’s is that it gives you the unabashed freedom to set tables that are elegant and softly romantic. This is such a beautiful and romantic table! I’ve always loved china and the different patterns. Right before I was engaged to be married I bought a very modern china set with black modern crystal to go with it. When I was setting up my wedding registry I thought I would go in a completely different style direction with another set of china, something more traditional; I chose Noritake Shenandoah. I’ve been married for 31 years and have somewhat outgrown my modern china but I love my Shenandoah china more and more every time I take it out to use it. It is such a timeless pattern. Your double date table is stunning! Once I saw your table I had to buy the chargers and now I am looking into napkins and a table runner (or two). I have several table clothes that go beautifully with the china, cream, burgundy, and pink but I don’t have a suitable table runner or napkins for any of them. It is so wonderful that you post a shopping list, now I have a direction for buying more accessories for my table!
I am looking at having napkins monogramed and am very confused as to where the monogram should go on the napkin. From what I understand it depends on how you are going to position the napkin at each place setting. Would you consider doing a post on different ways to place napkins on a table and how monogramed napkins can be used?
