Table Setting for One By The Fire

Table Setting for One ~ white, silver, and peach table setting by the fire

On a cold day, don’t you just want to have a fire – and maybe a table setting for one? I love dressing up a table for a meal by myself! It’s so indulgent. And a great excuse to have all my favorite foods!

Table Setting for One ~ White

This particular day, I was longing for something crisp and fresh, so white it was.

Since it was a cold day, I had in mind some warm creamy wild rice soup. (With a little glass of something sparkling too, of course!)

I got these lovely simple soup bowls and saucers from my mother years ago. They’re the perfect size – not too big, not too small.

Then on the glass plate, a crisp green salad with candied walnuts, cranberries, and blue cheese. I love a clear plate in the stack when I don’t want to detract from my main color theme. It gives an extra layer of texture without competing.

And how beautiful is a white plate with raised detail? I got these when one of my dear friends’ daughters got married several years ago. At her wedding dinner, every place setting had different vintage plates and silver. It was really charming and beautiful, and I got to choose a couple to bring home! As you probably guessed, I chose two of these gorgeous embossed white plates. LOVE them!

And they’re perfect for my table setting for one. My main dish was chicken and pesto wrapped in puff pastry. This puff pastry dish is one of my favorites of all time, and so easy to do ahead. I wrote about it in this post, and you can get a printable recipe from the Members Library.

Table Setting for One ~ Silver

Silver is always a great accompaniment when you want to keep it bright.

Plus, there’s nothing like sterling flatware to elevate a tablescape. This is my favorite Rose Point silver – I just love the beautiful design.

And the white plate stack sits on a lovely silver charger. It’s really a serving tray that I got at Good Will for like ten dollars, but it works perfectly as a charger for my table setting for one. I actually got two of them and use them all the time for intimate meals!

Table Setting for One ~ flowers with fire and crystal

Of course, we have to have flowers for our table setting for one! A simple silver bud vase was just the thing. Which leads us to our next item – the flowers.

Beautiful Flowers

Since I was all about the white for this table, I went my local grocery for several different kinds. They had dahlias, hydrangea, and baby’s breath, and these peach roses were too gorgeous to pass up!

I might have gotten a little carried away – the vase wasn’t really meant to hold this many flowers! However, I was happy with the end result, and they looked beautiful on my table setting for one.

Crisp Linens

This lovely tablecloth is the same one I used for my Silver Birch teacup post. It was a beautiful and thoughtful gift, and I love it to death. It’s perfect for my solo lunch table!

I love the cut work, especially with the fire gleaming through it!

With all my white, the delicate blush linen napkin was the only color in the setting, aside from the roses. It was just the right amount of soft color, and enhanced my crisp bright theme.

Time for Lunch at my Table Setting for One

And now – time to eat! And relax by the fire on this cold day. I hope you get to treat yourself to an indulgent lunch for one sometime soon!
