The Traveling Teacup Gets Cozy in the Beautiful Northwoods

Hi All – the Traveling Teacup has made another stop! The beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin to visit my friend Kristin at White Arrows Home!

Lovely Kristin by the fireplace wearing a plaid shirt and holding the Traveling Teacup

Kristin is a writer, blogger, podcaster, total sweetheart, and rocks plaid better than anyone I know! Plus, she lives in a real log house beside a lake in the woods! We’ll get a peek at them both in a little bit, but first –

If You’re Just Joining Us …

Here’s some background on our Traveling Teacup. (Named Tessa Rose by her hosts.)

It started as a photo challenge with The Exciting Beginnings of the Traveling Teacup. I honestly never thought it would go on this long – or be so much fun! I’ve met so many wonderful creative people. And what a journey our Tessa Rose teacup has had. She’s had all these adventures – with more to come!

Stop #15 ~ The Northwoods of Wisconsin

Staying up north, the Traveling Teacup flew across the Great Lakes to Wisconsin. And ended up in Kristin’s mailbox.

Her log home is truly lovely, and the Traveling Teacup was treated to a wonderful cozy day. Here’s Kristin’s story of their time together.

The Traveling Teacup Visits a Log Home

It was so much fun to have the Traveling Teacup make a stop at our lakeside log cabin home in The Northwoods of Wisconsin! Known as Camp Paradise, our home is a full log cabin, like real life Lincoln Logs!

I was so smitten when I started reading about Tessa on Barbara and other blogging friends posts and wanted to join in!

Saturday Breakfast

Tessa spent the day with me on Saturday. She got a little curious where I was Saturday morning. Some of her hosts must be early birds, but when I get the chance I love to sleep in. Flannel sheets are a must in Wisconsin this time of year and I love to stay curled up and cuddled in as long as possible.

But, once I’m up coffee is the first thing on my to do list! I like to drink it strong, decaf and black! A delicious muffin was on the menu and tasted so perfect with coffee in a tea cup!

While eating breakfast we enjoyed taking in the lake views.

Oh my – isn’t that gorgeous? I could curl up in Kristin’s chair all day long and watch the beautiful lake and woods. Especially with a teacup and a muffin!

Writing, Reading, and Shopping

If I have a free day I love to spend time writing and reading.

Don’t you love this green typewriter? In addition to being a great host to the Traveling Teacup, Kristin also owns a vintage shop in Minocqua, WI. She sells the most fun and wonderful things! If you’re ever up that way, stop into White Arrows Home The Shop! You’ll love it! But on with her story.

Staying Cozy with the Traveling Teacup

Tessa was able to stay warm as I kept refilling her and enjoying her company by the toasty fire.

My husband keeps the fire going from Fall- Spring all day long. He and my boys chop and stack our wood. We love the Henry Ford quote, “Chop your own wood. It will warm you twice.”

The Traveling Teacup Learns About Supper Clubs

Tessa enjoyed sitting in the great room listening to us decide what Supper Club we wanted to go to for dinner.

Supper Clubs are a big tradition here in The Northwoods. Friday Night Fish Frys, Old Fashioned Cocktails and Dinners with family and friends where you want to linger all night in the cozy restaurant.

And Whiskey in a Teacup

I collect tea cups myself so Tessa was right at home.

It’s so fun to meet another teacup collector! I’d love to see more of Kristin’s collection someday.

I started collecting them when I was in high school. I loved all the different patterns and that I could often find such pretty ones at affordable prices. My grandmother began passing down some family heirloom ones to me too. They are treasures!

Eight years ago on a trip to Nashville with my sister and dad, I found this Whiskey in a Tea Cup sign. It was such a perfect fit for me.

And I think it’s wonderful to be creative with what you drink in your tea cup. Why not always have a beautiful tea cup?

Thanks so much to Barbara for giving me the opportunity to participate in this fun blog post!  What a fun way to be creative and connected with friends around the country.

Thank You Kristin!
